MCV issue 125 (1 March 2001)
The second of four 2001 issues I'll be scanning of UK trade news sheet MCV.
In this issue:
- Nintendo UK's first office opens on this day; until 2001, their British operations were outsourced. Clearly a big deal for the retail sector.
- After years of licensing its hits to other publishers, Capcom enters the European market with its first two PS2 releases: Street Fighter EX3 and Onimusha.
- Dixons annoys people by discounting FFIX by £12 less than two weeks after release. Now Final Fantasy is still going but Dixons is long gone. Coincidence?
- Intel enters the PC peripherals market. Wait... Intel made peripherals? Huh.
- Top of the all-formats chart this week: Final Fantasy IX, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Theme Park World.
