MCV issue 354 (16 September 2005)
Here's another issue of British trade weekly MCV. This is the third of a consecutive run of 17 issues that I'll be scanning over the coming months, running from September 2005 to the end of December — a period that includes the launch of the Xbox 360, the European release of the PSP, and the first public demo of the Wiimote.
In this issue:
- Actual headline from this issue: "Nintendo loves Sony PSP". Hard to contemplate Nintendo acknowledging another company's device nowadays.
- "News that Criterion's Renderware is likely to go in-house exclusively with EA has been met with a mixed response". Hey, there's a video about that!
- Sega signs as publisher for an unannounced game from Bizarre Creations. That would be The Club, one of only two Bizarre games still available (if I counted correctly). RIP PGR.
- There's a footnote about a new magazine, Retro Bytes. I'd never heard of it, and that might be because beyond a small preview issue, it may never have made it to publication.
- Leading the all-formats chart this week, Ubisoft continued to monetise Tom Clancy's corpse with Rainbow Six: Lockdown. The PC CD-ROM chart was also headed by a new entry: Dungeon Siege II. Those dungeons weren't going to besiege themselves, after all.
